Hello and welcome to WW2T!
I find it more convenient to have the installer (and therefore to be able to easily uninstall the program as well) for most users. But there is nothing that prevents you from zipping the c:\program files (x86)\ww2t folder (in case that is your installation directory) and transferring it to any other computer/location. Just call WW2T.exe then and it should work. When the installer runs it asks you to name the installation directory. If you name it for example WW2T_0.2 you can also have multiple versions in parallel on your computer.
If you could give me one more reason why a zip is preferable… ๐
Best,
BenHaha, ok, got it. ๐ Yes, the German onslaught has successfully been stopped. Congratulations to the Russian commander!
Good one, thank you. Who played the Russians? ๐
I have been demoted to 4 stars after the loss of this important battle! ๐

Hello Achsah,
welcom to the forum! Well, at the moment it is multi-player only and no AI available to play against the computer. But I spent some thoughts on AI and indeed SASL would be a good guideline on how to instruct a computer opponent.

Ok, I will reverse it then, I’d like to postpone the Options dialog to another release, it should include sounds/levels as well and probably other things meant to be configurable.
You mean if you zoom by mouse wheel – do you expect a certain direction? Heard that before, so the solution ought to be to offer the option to invert the mouse wheel direction for zoom…
Yes, Jacksboro is right. What does the tooltip of the Recover button say? You can always check the tooltips (hover over the button) event if the button is not available – or especially then! Because it will provide you (most of the time) with a precise error message/advice.
Bug 1: Ok, fixed, thank you, the tooltip now also says “Don’t…”
Bug 2: You could click on the “eye” symbol in the event which will center the map on the location (this works for all events). Still this is not perfect, escpecially in buildings with multiple stories. The CC inspector only opens when selecting the right location.

Hello Andy, welcome to the forum!
Yes, that’s right, this bug has been fixed already. The fix will be included with the next version. I try to avoid another bugfix release for the current version even though there are some really annoying ones…
Thank you!
Ben
Ok, great, see you later then!
Ok, good, Saturday would be best for me. What about 20h your time? You can find me on Skype under be.olof1

Hey Ravenblodt, if you like, it would be me ๐ Please choose a scenario you prefer to play and let me know what day/time. I’d be available Saturday or Sunday evening (UTC+1) this week, or some day next week.
Cheers,

Awesome, thank you Jacksboro! I cannot add anything significant to your AAR. That’s exactly how we played it! It is too early to say whether the scenario – as it is configured right now – is well balanced, but at least doesn’t look totally unbalanced. This was our re-match after I had won the first match as the German player and I have to say that Jacksboro this time chose a convincing setup (and one that was very different from mine before). He put up a lot of pressure during the whole match and as you said, up until turn 3 if not 4 it looked to me like he would make it. My reinforcements came into play unharmed though and with them the best Russian leader (9-2). They made all the difference and I kept them together and deployed them just on the eastern flank in order to slow down his advance. This strategy worked out it the end, but barely – it came down to a few significant fire attacks. Admittedly I scored some good shots in the final stage of the game.
And regarding the weather report: Well, it was heavily raining while the Germans marched into our lands but as soon our comrades had the upper hand, the sun broke through the thick clouds and the children came out to play in the streets again, the birds started to sing and the flowers to blossom! ๐
Cheers,
BenYes, currently – if you hit “Save Match” during game play the scenario is stored in the “scenarios” folder. Whereas all auto saves during game play are automatically written to the “autosave” directory. When you start a new match and select a scenario – like you said – it will simply display the contents of the “scenarios” folder. That’s why… Most of the time we don’t use the “Save Match” button because the auto saves are sufficient: when you end/pause your game play right after the game has switched to a new phase. The file explorer needs to be extended with the capability to change directories, then I will improve on this.
At that stage the setup phase has not ended yet because the sniper setup follows. So that’s why there is an End Phase button as well that becomes valid at the end of the phase.
Ok, this is implemented and will be included in the next release.
Awesome! I’m starting work on missing terrain features like hedges and walls now…
Hello Mark,
ok, yes, that’s were the scenario should show up. Did you just try to unzip the WW2T zip to – let’s say a tmp folder – change the 64bit executable (presumably) to executable and start it? The only reason I can think of is that there is some rights issue in accessing those directories. You will have problems in playing an online match too because matches are loaded and auto-saved from/to the local disk while playing (both players maintain the state of the game at any time). So as long as this issue is not resolved you will not be able to play properly.
Another possibility is that your Linux dist is not compatible with Unity3D – the game engine underlying WW2T. As far as I’m aware it should be fine with Mint – for Fedora I found postings that report problems. And Ravenblodt also confirmed that it is running fine on Mint.

http://blogs.unity3d.com/2015/08/26/unity-comes-to-linux-experimental-build-now-available/With Mint the only complications seems to be this 3 display issue. Is there something like a virtual desktop (so you can switch between several desktops)? Maybe this leads to problems and could be switched off. I’m just guessing here.. My current Linux testing enironment is simply Ubuntu and Lubuntu, it runs flawlessly just out of the box.

All looks good, Mark. Hm. It should work. Did you follow my advice to Create a match like this:
Play Match->Hotseat->Create->Select Scenario
Now you should see those 4 scenarios. Click on one of them and hit โSelect Scenarioโ again, then continue with creating the match (give it a name, create it and then finally(!) you will see your first match in the list you can start.
